Learning how to apply relaxation strategies is important when working on changing unhelpful thoughts. Recognising negative thinking patterns and then working on changing them into realistic, more constructive ways of thinking is a powerful way of making changes. It is easier to "re-frame" negative thoughts when we are feeling relaxed and calm.Being able to relax in stressful situations enables us to think rationally rather than thinking emotionally. If we are "thinking straight", we are much better able to manage the stressful situation.
