Psychological Therapy Val offers psychological therapy with an occupational focus. She recognises that work is a central part of life (whether we are employed or unemployed). The workplace (or absence of) has a significant impact on our lives as a whole. Val can help you with issues such as: anxiety, depression, stress, self esteem, relationships, pain management and weight loss. She works with General Practitioners who refer their patients through Medicare. She also accepts self referrals who can self fund or claim through their private health insurance. She uses outcome based, client centred, brief therapeutic techniques. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is an integral part of her practice. She also uses ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) which is emerging as a powerful, evidence based therapy based on mindfulness, as well as clinical hypnotherapy, if it is appropriate. Val is client focused, and focuses on enabling people to make their own choices. The process is very flexible and depends entirely on your needs. An initial one and a half hour session will help to clarify your needs, and help you to decide how you would like to proceed.
